In 2003 Officer David Noyes, Officer Michael Purvis, and Officer Jason Kooken responded to the scene of a domestic dispute incident. Domestic disputes are a very common occurence in Amesbury. What the officers didnt know was that the suspect was armed with three loaded pistols and an AR-15 assault rifle. Upon their arrival, the suspect opened fire on the officers. During the fierce gun battle that ensued, all three officers resorted to tactics learned during their advanced training and displayed extraordinary courage. Remarkably, all three officers survived and were awarded the George Hanna Award for Valor.
